With the transfer window in England now officially shut, everyone at Arsenal is focused on trying to go one better in the Premier League title race this season.

Despite not being fancied to do so, the Gunners ran Manchester City close at the summit of the league before falling away in the final weeks of the 2022/23 campaign. But after spending in excess of £200million this summer, Mikel Arteta has all the tools to mount another title push in the coming months.

A host of Arsenal players are currently on international duty, but next weekend's trip to Everton will soon come around. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around the Emirates...

Edu gets his wish

Arsenal have finally offloaded former club-record signing Nicolas Pepe - over 12 months after Edu implied that Pepe and other high-earning, underperforming stars were "killing" the club.

The Gunners have struggled to offload Pepe in numerous transfer windows but reached an agreement to terminate the final year of his contract. He has since signed for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

And that will delight Edu, who hit out at players who were content to stay at Arsenal on lucrative contracts without playing regular football during the club's pre-season tour last July.

Pepe joins a number of other players who have left Arsenal this summer, including the likes of Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun.

Nicolas Pepe may have finally departed the Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners are still counting the cost of the £72m deal they signed off on four years ago - both figuratively and literally.

Reports have claimed that the Gunners still owe around £10m to Lille after spreading the Ivorian winger's transfer fee over the course of the five-year contract he signed back in 2019.

Pepe scored just 27 goals in 112 appearances before calling time on his Emirates career this weekend. The forward has signed with Trabzonspor.
