'No10 bullies being reported over anti-strike laws is shameful day for Britain'
Trade union membership and strike action are fundamental rights imperilled by our hostile Government.
Introducing ever tighter union shackles when it loses an argument or fails to browbeat workers into subservience, the reckless Tories are wrong to violate international law. The TUC reporting No10 bullies to UN rights watchdog the International Labour Organisation is a shameful day for Britain.
TUC chief Paul Nowak recognises the anti-strike legislation is authoritarian and unjust. Too many Tories simply detest unions, seeking confrontation instead of co-operation. But repealing the unfair laws is a pledge from Labour leader Keir Starmer that is both principled and popular.
Widespread support for the recent waves of strikes also proves the Tories are no longer able to scapegoat unions for Conservative failures during the cost of living crisis.
