Moment 'XL Bully' dog launches attack as girl, 11, and others injured

An 11-year-old girl and two men were rushed to hospital after being attacked by a crazed dog on a busy shopping street.

Horrific video footage showed the moment the youngster was bitten by the animal in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on Saturday afternoon. She managed to escape the dog’s clutches and ran screaming into a nearby supermarket for safety. The animal’s owner could be seen in the footage desperately trying to bring the dog under control.

But it then chased a man across the street into a neighbouring petrol station forecourt and dragged him to the ground. A hero bystander then battered the dog with a large shovel but was unable to stop it attacking a third man. The video, filmed from the upper deck of a bus, ended as the dog dragged the man behind a parked Range Rover.

Eyewitness Nasir Uddin posted on Facebook : “Most craziest thing me and my family just witnessed. A little girl was bitten by a brown dog and locked on. Several people was trying to get the dog to release on Bordesley Green Road. By the time I went up to the dog with a bar I had in the car it released the girl.

“It then went after another boy. My little girl and wife was screaming. I hope the girl and the boy are fine and received treatment and the dog is caught and dealt with. Why do people walk these dogs without a leash knowing their reputation?”

The video was posted on Tik Tok, where users speculated the dog was an XL Bully. It was later taken down from the social networking site but went viral on Twitter and Instagram. A later video showed police officers and an ambulance outside Zahir Supermarket.
