The Secret’s out at Ascot.

TOP SECRET (2.35) has a decent record at the Royal track and it’s puzzling why he’s been largely ignored in the betting.

He’s won twice from four visits to this course and both victories came over this 7f distance.

His two all-weather wins last November came when ridden prominently and that could easily be a help with a lack of obvious pace in today’s race. Have 1pt each-way at 25-1. Sky Bet is paying out on five places.

The Betfair Sprint Cup is the big race of the day. Shaquille is hot favourite for the Haydock Group 1 after top-level victories in the Commonwealth Cup and the July Cup but he wouldn’t want to blow the start as badly as he did in those races on this sharper track.

If he is vulnerable, REGIONAL (3.35) could be the one to take advantage.

He’s developed into a smart sprinter this season. His 5f wins at York and Haydock were followed by an excellent fifth in the Nunthorpe at York

The return to 6f promises to suit Ed Bethell’s speedster. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. Sky Bet is offering five places.

Earlier on the card, GET SHIRTY (3.00) is weighted to strike in the Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup.

He ran better than his midfield finishing position in the Ebor as he found himself in the rear early on from his wide stall.

The draw hasn’t exactly been kind to him again but there’s enough early pace in this race to think he’ll be able to get a more prominent position.

He’s well treated on last season’s wins and he looks ready to return to form. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. A few bookies are paying five places.

On Kempton’s decent all-weather card, KEYSER SOZE (2.10) should get his perfect set-up in the Unibet London Miles Series Final.

He loves to be held up off a strong pace and there’s a stack of frontrunners in the field.

Richard Spencer’s veteran has a decent record at the track and goes well fresh. Have 1pt each-way at 33-1. Sky Bet is going five places.
