Newsboy's racing tips for three meetings on Wednesday, including Kempton Nap

SLEEPING LION (8.00) only ran twice last term, and one of those was in the Unibet Conditions Stakes at Kempton 12 months ago, when he beat Roberto Escobar and Earlofthecotswolds by a length and a quarter and a neck respectively.

Trained by Harry and Roger Charlton, the eight-year-old likes the Sunbury all-weather, with two wins under his belt at the venue, and running in the same race again this year after a nine month layoff, he is taken to repeat the performance, running off the same terms against the same two rivals he beat back then.

SEDGE WREN (3.40) showed plenty of promise when third in a pair of bumpers, the last of which was at Cheltenham last april when she finished third behind Cheltenham hope Queens Gamble.

Switching to hurdles this term, and despite a less than flawless round of jumping, the five-year-old mare came home a five-length winner on her debut at Huntingdon in October.

Stuart Edmunds’ charge carries a penalty, but it should not stop her from putting in a bold show once again in the 2m 4f Vickers.Bet Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Southwell.
