Meghan Markle attending NYFW would 'open doors' amid her connection to event
Fashion designers will likely be "falling over themselves" to get Meghan Markle to sit in the front row at their New York Fashion Week (NYFW) shows, a PR expert has suggested.
Meghan, 42, is understood to have attended the semi-annual fashion exhibition in New York City on several occasions in the past, prior to joining the Royal Family. She doesn't appear to have attended for some years now.
It has been teased that the former actor could make her return this year though. She's now understood to have an additional connection to NYFW, after signing with a talent agency that's believed to be connected to the main event.
NYFW: The Shows - described as the 'preeminent' showcase during the event - is run by IMG. The management company was acquired by WME in 2014, forming Endeavor. Meghan signed with WME this year.
Following the news that she signed with the talent agency, there's been rumours that she's going to pursue more showbiz opportunities in her career moving forward. This has included speculation that she'll get back into acting.
Oprah Winfrey snubs Harry and Meghan as expert claims 'the tide has turned'Meghan isn't expected to join her husband Prince Harry, 38, in the UK this week and she's not due to join him in Germany for the Invictus Games until September 11. It suggests that she will be in the US for much of NYFW, with its latest instalment running from September 7 until 13.
Ahead of the event, The Mirror spoke to PR expert Mayah Riaz about the possibility of Meghan attending. Discussing the potential, she told us: "[Given Meghan's apparent schedule] it is entirely possible for her to be in attendance.
"Meghan is no stranger to NYFW, having attended before joining the Royal Family. In fact, it would not seem out of place for us to see her there. I imagine designers are falling over themselves to have her at front row of their shows.
"[She] has a great sense of style and is the chicest of the Royals, as whatever she is seen wearing sells out. Who knows, maybe in the future we could see her a model at a designer's show - but if she did, it would be for a charity show or supporting a cause close to her heart."
Mayah further commented recently: "We can expect Harry and Meghan to do more projects separately going forward. Therefore, the couple should be able to go to events without each other and not have split rumours surfacing.
"I think it would be great to see Meghan attending NYFW. From a PR perspective, for celebrities to be seen at fashion week can enhance their brand. Not only will there be extensive media coverage but it also opens doors for collaborations and reinforces their image," she added.
Discussing their potential career moves, Mayah told us ahead of NYFW: "With Meghan and possibly Harry attending more showbiz events, it will slowly remove them from the assumption that all they do next is connected to the Royals."
Asked whether the fashion exhibition could be an opportunity for Meghan's rumoured return to Instagram, Mayah teased: "Who knows whether a possible NYFW attendance is the image to which she launches her much anticipated Instagram account with? It would be a great way to position Meghan towards a new direction."
