Nintendo Switch Online has added five new games to the service over the last week, with four of those arriving today.

While PS Plus made the news thanks to a price increase, and Xbox Game Pass has Starfield, Nintendo Switch Online is quietly chugging along being one of the strongest subscription services available as it adds five new titles. This month kicked off a bit early on August 30 when Excitebike 64 was released onto the Nintendo 64 Nintendo Switch Online app as a part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Nintendo is adding four new titles across the NES, SNES, and Game Boy today – three of which were Japan-exclusives on their original platforms (and thus not translated).

Excitebike 64 – as the name implies – first launched on the Nintendo 64 back in 2000 and brings the NES classic to the third dimension. It was pretty overlooked at launch due to arriving late in the console's lifespan (the PS2 was out in Europe by the time it was released here), but it's a solid motorbike game with a huge amount of content. Most impressive is the course creator which is more in-depth than some of the course builders in games you see nowadays. Plus you can unlock the original NES title too (which is already on Nintendo Switch Online).

As for the core Nintendo Switch Online subscription, the NES is getting two titles, one for the SNES, and one for the Game Boy Color (which is included in the Game Boy app). First off is Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day! which is a sports game spinoff of the Kunio-Kun series (known worldwide as River City), and Joy Mech Fight which features Sukapon, who fans of Super Smash Bros Ultimate may recognise as one of the assist trophies in that game.

The final Japan-only title is Kirby's Star Stacker which is a block-based puzzle game similar to the likes of Tetris Attack. We actually did get this game over here, but only the Game Boy version, not the SNES version which is included here. Finally on Game Boy Nintendo Switch Online is Titus' RPG Quest for Camelot which is based on the 1998 Warner Bros animated film.

Nintendo may add more titles to the service this month, It's worth noting that the Mega Drive app hasn't been updated since June 27, and the Game Boy Advance app hasn't had an update since June 23 – with the latter having F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Golden Sun, and Kirby & the Amazing Mirror confirmed to be on their way.
