An 18th century cottage is on the market for just £150,000, but there is a huge catch.

The Grade II listed property is located on a peaceful country lane, and although the outside appears in good shape, the property is trapped in time and has been left abandoned with some of the previous resident's furniture still there. The cottage, located in Cornwall, has a small living room, which contains a fireplace, sofa, armchair, dining room table and sideboard.

However, despite the additional furnishings sounding great there are holes in the ceiling and the carpet is full of masonry. The property is clearly a fixer upper, and could make for a great project. With a lot of hard work it could become a great holiday home.

There is another reception room at the property, but this is full of more discarded furniture and gas canisters. In the cottage there are four bedrooms, but in one of the upstairs bedrooms the ceiling and walls are badly damaged.

The property, which is based in the village of Stoke Climsland, near Callington, is being sold by Kivells and is available to purchase via auction. The listing states: "This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Grade II character cottage bursting with potential. Located on a remote country road, Chapel Cottage is perfect for those wanting a peaceful and private setting. No near neighbours and minimal passing traffic.”

It continued: “This four-bedroom detached cottage presents a wonderful opportunity to purchase a character property in need of renovation and refurbishment throughout. Viewing is highly recommended.”

The auction is due to take place on Wednesday, September 13.
