Strictly stars cut short NTAs speech as they fail to pay tribute to Len Goodman

Strictly Come Dancing's acceptance speech at the National Television Awards was cut short - with no tribute to Len Goodman.

This evening, the glitz and glam was broadcasted live straight to our TVs from London's O2 Arena, with Joel Dommett on hosting duties. The best TV stars will be there in the hopes of taking home one of the coveted prizes, including Best Daytime - which is between This Morning, Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop - whilst the stars of the soaps including Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale amongst others will all be out in force to represent the serial dramas.

Tonight, the Strictly cast of 2022 and the professional dancers picked up the Best Talent Show award as Fleur East and Tyler West lead the tributes to their fellow cast members, the pro dancers, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and the four judges - Anton du Beke, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and there was even a mention for Craig Revel Horwood.

However, fans were surprised that there was no tribute to Strictly legend Len Goodman, who passed away earlier this year. As the group thanked everyone for their part in the show, music started playing and Joel rushed on to hurry them off stage.

Meanwhile, host Joel Dommett has revealed he could be force to pull out of presenting the awards as his wife's due date nears.

Speaking about the possibility, Joel admitted he may have to pull out, as comedian Rob Beckett chimed in to add: "If she goes into the labour the day of the NTA's which is live from the O2, just let me know and I'll get there and I'll host it." He then said: "They say they've got a contingency but they won't tell me who it is ... I'm thinking because you know it's live so there's breaks so I'm thinking I'm just going to keep my phone on me and just check during the breaks and then I can come back after a break and suddenly it's Craig Doyle."

Joel has shared the secret for getting through hosting such a big event, as he revealed: "I genuinely look at Ant and Dec the whole time, and I’m not even exaggerating because Ant and Dec are such good audience members. They are brilliant because they have done it for a long time and they know more than anyone how hard live television is, and so they laugh at everything. And so I just direct everything towards them, they’re usually right front and centre."
