The woman yelled at Magrum to leave, but he continued attempting to break in. She then armed herself with a handgun and fired a warning shot out of a window in an effort to scare him away. However, Magrum then reached inside the home in an attempt to take the gun from her.

The woman then opened fire in an act of self-defense, shooting Magrum who collapsed in the driveway. When deputies arrived on scene, they found Magrum deceased. He was later confirmed to be a registered sex offender from Utah.

The female homeowner was uninjured in the incident. No arrests have been made. The Pima County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attempted break-in and shooting.
