Tom Brady has made his first appearance on Fox Sports following the beginning of the college football season, and has backed his former university Michigan to become champions this campaign.

Brady finally brought to an end his remarkable playing career in February of this year, after coming out of a retirement to play one final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a year earlier. Since calling time on his career on the pitch the 46-year-old has opted to go into television, teaming up with Fox Sports.

Brady is set to play a major role in the broadcaster's NFL coverage, but has made his TV debut early this week to have his say on the upcoming college season. The former New England Patriots quarterback featured in a prediction video alongside a whole host of other stars.

In the clip, Brady is heard backing his former university Michigan to get their hands on the Big Ten Conference title this time around. "Look, guys, I hate to ruin this for everyone else, but this is Michigan’s year," the seven-time Super Bowl champion said.

Brady backed his former college not only due to his loyalties, but thanks to their hot form in recent years. The Wolverines head into the 2023 Big Ten having won the last two titles over the Purdue Boilermakers and Iowa Hawkeyes across 2022 and 2021.

"We’re coming off two back-to-back Big Ten titles, two straight Ohio State beatdowns. Sorry, Urban (Meyer)." Brady also went on to back fellow quarterback J.J. McCarthy to star this year, after impressing as the Wolverines starting QB last campaign.

He went on: "Look, Coach Harbaugh’s got all his key pieces back. He’s got a blue-chip quarterback in J.J. McCarthy. A two-headed monster in the backfield. And we got a loaded defence. The winningest program in college football history is ready to go and make another national championship run. We got this. Let’s go. Go Blue."

Michigan kicked off their new season in perfect fashion on Saturday, after seeing off the East Carolina Pirates. The Wolverines recorded a comfortable 30-3 victory in the campaign-opener, good signs for coach Jim Harbaugh.

Despite the positive start the Michigan coach was forced to watch his team's game away from the sidelines after being handed a school-imposed three-game suspension. The sanction was sent Harbaugh's way after he allegedly broke NCAA recruiting violations during the COVID-19 dead period.
