Model's legs found stuffed in fridge as cops continue search for head and torso

The former in-laws of a Hong Kong model have been arrested after her body parts were found in a refrigerator days after she disappeared.

Abby Choi, 28, was a rising star in Hong Kong's fashion scene who had appeared on a magazine cover just weeks ago.

Police made the horrendous discovery while storming a home in the beachside village of Lung Mei, which sits around 18 miles outside of the special administrative Chinese region.

After breaking into the house, which was rented by Choi's father-in-law, officers discovered two legs that belonged to a woman in the fridge,

They also found the victim's identity card, credit cards and other items in the house, according to Police Superintendent Alan Chung said.

"Police also have found that the flat was arranged by cold-blooded killers meticulously," he said.

"Tools that are used to dismember human bodies were found in the flat, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves, and masks."

Human tissue was found in pots of soup, Chung added.

Police were unable to locate the victim's head, torso or hands at the scene.

Cops continue their search for the ex-husband, but his parents and brother are now in custody and will face murder charges.

Chung said authorities believe the 28-year-old woman had financial disputes involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars (millions of GBP) with her ex-husband and his family and that "some people" were unhappy with how Choi handled her financial assets.

Chung said the house was rented by her ex-husband's father only a few weeks ago. Chung said the woman was 28 years old and a model whose surname was "Choi."

He did not disclose her full identity but the South China Morning Post identified her as the model.

The model was last seen alive on Tuesday in nearby Tai Po, and had appeared on the cover of the L'Officiel Monaco fashion magazine this month.

She shared a picture of the shoot with her 90,000 Instagram followers, with a caption alongside that read: "From Hong Kong to the cover of L'Official Monaco, my journey as a style icon continues."

Concerns were raised on Thursday and cops launched a search for the 28-year-old.

Officials believe Choi was in financial disputes with her ex and his family, totalling 100million HKD (£10.7million).
