Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s late business could be more outgoings as they look to help balance the books after a big summer spend. Rob Holding could yet leave but Arsenal ’s transfer window has been pretty spectacular with Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, David Raya and Jurrien Timber.

Aston Villa

It has been a strong window from Villa with the Unai Emery factor helping them attract club-record arrival Moussa Diaby as well as proven quality in Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo. Tyrone Mings’ injury was a blow so expect Clement Lenglet’s arrival from Barcelona to help plug that gap.

Bournemouth

New manager Andoni Iraola has wasted no time in bringing eight new faces to the Vitality, including Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams and Bristol City's Alex Scott, the most coveted player in the Championship last season. But clean sheets will be the order of the day, and a central defender remains his priority.

Brentford

Thomas Frank wants a late move for a forward as the club grow increasingly resigned to losing Ivan Toney in January. They tried and failed for Nottingham Forest ’s Brennan Johnson and have been eyeing up PSG forward Hugo Ekitiké for a last minute move.

Brighton

It has been a busy window of ins and outs for Brighton. They have lost Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, but when they signed Carlos Baleba from Lille, there were a few Premier League clubs ready to jump in. Such is the quality of Brighton’s recruitment.

Burnley

Despite spending nearly £100 million on 11 new players, Vincent Kompany is still short of a left-back because of his inability to turn loan star Ian Maatsen’s move from Chelsea into a permanent deal. He does not rate Charlie Taylor and centre-half Hannes Delacroix made his debut there on Sunday.

Chelsea

With Cole Palmer signed, sealed and delivered, Chelsea finally seem to have finished spending. Now it’s sell, sell, sell. Marc Cucurella is on Manchester United's list of potential recruits, Ian Maatsen has interest from West Ham, Trevoh Chalobah could raise £50m to join up again with former manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern.

Crystal Palace

In a tactic that has worked most of the summer, everyone at Palace should turn their phone off for 24 hours, especially after securing a deal for Dean Henderson on Thursday. It may not have been the most ambitious of summers, but at least they would keep hold of Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Cheick Doucoure.

Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche got the striker he so desperately need in Beto, who made an immediate impact with a goal on his debut against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup and a promise to work hard for the club. Dyche would still like another striker but it will probably have to be a loan player, with Che Adams of Southampton still on the radar. There could also be a cheeky bid for a certain Manchester United defender on loan…though very unlikely.

Fulham

Losing Aleksandar Mtrovic to the great Saudi exodus was bad enough, but if Joao Palhinha follows him out of Craven Cottage to Bayern Munich before the window shuts, Fulham – for all their spirit – will be looking over their shoulders. Everton winger Alex Iwobi and Sevilla striker Lucas Ocampos would plug some of the gaps.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has been looking for the midfielder and centre half he feels he needs to strengthen his squad, and on Thursday night the Reds finally made their breakthrough on a deal for Ryan Gravenberch, who will put the finishing touches to his move on Friday. A defender could be trickier to sign, while an agreement could be reached for Andre, the Fluminense midfielder and Brazil international, to join in January, with talks underway. Otherwise Liverpool will concentrate on outgoings.

Luton

Nine new signings are through the door already, at an aggregate cost of £24 million, but the most expensive has been Ryan Giles at £5m – and the depth of quality in both boxes is questionable. The Hatters still need a central defender and Arsenal's Rob Holding is a favoured target.

Manchester City

City did the bulk of their transfer business early in the window, bringing in Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku, and will add a fourth signing in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes. City have a verbal agreement with Wolves to sign Nunes for £53m, with Tommy Doyle going the other way on loan, although that is a separate deal. City midfielder Cole Palmer has interested Chelsea, and should move to Stamford Bridge before the deadline.

Manchester United

With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both injured and out for an extended period, United are looking to bring in a left-back before today's transfer deadline. Chelsea's Marc Cucurella was the leading candidate to fill the void, but United have since turned to Tottenham's Sergio Reguilon after discounting Brentford's Rico Henry and Barcelona's Marcos Alonso. Reguilon underwent a medical on Thursday ahead of a season-long loan deal. United are also considering a move for a midfielder, with Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat a target in what could be a complicated loan deal, but a left-back remains the priority.

Newcastle United

With sporting director Dan Ashworth conducting affairs, it’s unlikely the Magpies will ever again be in panic mode on deadline day with their recruitment drive almost certainly over for this window. The club, however, are keen to offload a few fringe players.

Nottingham Forest

The biggest question is can Forest hold onto £50-million rated Brennan Johnson? Tottenham are poised. Either way, expect the Reds to be typically busy. Brazilian defender Murillo has signed, and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, Bologna midfielder Nicolas Dominguez, Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares and Michy Batshuayi could all arrive too.

Sheffield United

Boss Paul Heckingbottom is desperate to re-sign midfielder James McAtee on a season-long loan from Manchester City. But it's understood the Blades face competition from elsewhere and a deal is by no means certain. Teenage hot shot Ryan One has spent the week on trial with the Blades from Hamilton, meanwhile, with a view to agreeing a permanent move.

Tottenham

Daniel Levy is supposedly in his element on deadline day and he will need to be. He has about seven players to get rid of who are too comfortable in the palatial surroundings Levy has built and all the time the Harry Kane money remains unspent, the fans are getting angrier. Brennan Johnson remains on the radar and the Wales international could arrive in a late deal.

West Ham United

Globe-trotting technical director Tim Steidten was last spotted in France trying to land Hugo Ekitike from PSG and Rabat courting Morocco forward Youssef En-Nesyri. That after previous trips to Brazil and Germany. That is the likely to be the final deal of the window, with free agent Jesse Lingard sorted out shortly after.

Wolves

It has been a window punctuated by exits rather than arrivals at Molineux amid FFP concerns, and Julen Lopetegui decided enough was enough. Now Matheus Nunes looks set for Manchester City for £53m. Tommy Doyle will head the other way in a separate deal and, with some cash to spend, expect some late incomings in addition to the £8.5m arrival of Santiago Bueno on Thursday.
