Jon Jones and Conor McGregor both credit same spiritual belief for UFC success

Jon Jones has credited the law of attraction to his incredible UFC success, just like Conor McGregor did on his road to featherweight and lightweight gold.

The legendary duo are both two-weight world champions, with Jones recently becoming heavyweight champion with a win over Ciryl Gane after a set of iconic runs with the light-heavyweight belt. They are also both no strangers to controversy; Jones having a chequered history in and out of the cage while McGregor is infamous for his recent activities.

But they were both notorious for having iron-clad mindsets at their peak of competition - which Jones credits to the philosophy that positive thoughts can bring positive things into one's life. He began getting into the idea before his sophomore UFC bout against the legendary Stephan Bonnar, whom he defeated by unanimous decision.

"Mentally, I had to teach myself that I could do things above the norm that I had grown up around," Jones told the Overdogs podcast. "I had to show myself that before I fought Stephen Bonnar and I got into the law of attraction and focusing on confidence and the power of the mind.

"We need to give ourselves the best chances mentally before walking into any situation. So beating Stephan made me realise not only could I beat a UFC fighter but I could beat a famous person. I remember after I got my hand raised I was looking into the crowd and I thought 'If I can beat him, I think I can beat any of them'.

"I thought 'This is actually possible, I'm a piece in the game and why is my piece less than anyone else's?' I elevated that night and then Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua was the next career-defining moment for me as part of the whole mental growing up and deciding I'm never letting this thing go."

McGregor learned about The Secret, a book and film about the law of attraction, before finding UFC fame, and has said that both he and girlfriend Dee Devlin used it to manifest success. He would become a two-weight world champion and the highest-paid, most famous fighter in the world.

"Even when I first watched it, I was like, this is bulls***," McGregor said in a 2015 Bleacher Report interview. "But then something clicked for me. We would be driving to the shop and visualising the exact car park space. And then we’d be able to get it every time.
