Katie Price slammed for vaping on camera amid mum's devastating lung condition

Katie Price's fans were far from impressed as she puffed on a vape during her podcast as they reminded the star of her influence on young people and her mum Amy's incurable lung condition.

The 45-year-old shared a clip of the latest episode of her podcast The Katie Price Show on Instagram where she can be seen using the electronic device as she chats to her sister Sophie. Her followers were not impressed by what they saw as she took drag after drag on the e-cigarette on camera.

Katie's mum Amy was diagnosed with idopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017 and her ongoing health illness was once terminal. However, Amy underwent a lifesaving transplant last year after falling into a coma and doctors telling her daughter she had just two weeks to live.

A number of her fans piled into the comment section to criticise Katie and warned her of the impact of her public actions. One wrote: "Vaping on camera is so irresponsible, especially with your mums lung disease" while another said: "Vaping ffs …. A very bad advert for your younger fans , show some responsibility please." A third user added: "Vaping with your mum's lung issues? Joke."

On the podcast, Katie brought up a viral clip of her singing A Whole New World out of tune and claimed it had been tampered with to 'discredit' her. She said: "Someone's tried to distort it and make me sound s**t. People have seen me singing on TikTok live to know that I can sing it. Whatever I do, people try and knock it, damage it, do something to discredit me. I can sing it.''

Katie opened up on her mother's illness on Michelle Visage's Rule Breakers podcast. Katie explained: "She's had her lung transplant. She had it in December. I can't believe how tough it is. She's 70. She had all the oxygen in, but she's found it hard to try to breathe [with her lung], because she's used to the oxygen being in. She only had two weeks left, and they found her a donor. She was in a coma, out of a coma, it was like, 'Is she going to live?'"

Recently, research from the Chartered Trading Standards Institute found that a third of vape products sold in the UK are not compliant with regulations. In the last six months of 2022, 1.4 tonnes of illegal vapes were seized in the North East of England alone.

Last month, Amy revealed she seriously considered sectioning the former glamour model over fears she was suicidal. The concerned mum believes Katie's drunken BMW crash in September 2021 was an attempt to kill herself after she hit "rock bottom".

Mother-of-five Katie pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance after recovering from the incident, which reportedly occurred after a blazing row with on-off beau, Carl Woods. Speaking in her new memoir, 'The Last Word', Amy, 70, described the crash and its aftermath as "shocking", adding that it left her fearing the worst.

Describing it as a situation that "no parent ever imagines having to deal with", Amy explained: "It had all come to a head. After all the years of failed relationships, betrayals by friends, duplicitous managers, and the painful loneliness she had experienced all her life. "We seriously thought about sectioning Kate under the Mental Health Act, but I just couldn’t do that to my own daughter."
