George and Amal Clooney look loved-up as they enjoy romantic Venice getaway
A-Lister George Clooney and his wife Amal look the perfect couple, after being spotted enjoying a romantic trip to Venice.
The power couple arrived at their £1,100 per night digs at Hotel Cipriani on Tuesday, just in time for the 80th Venice Film Festival. The annual event runs until September 9, and will be a scaled-back occasion thanks to the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike. As the Clooneys made their way to the city, they coordinated effortlessly. Amal, 45, wore a 60s-inspired white shift dress with a black graphic pattern and oversized sunglasses, while George donned a plain polo shirt as they held hands.

Later on in the trip, the couple, who are in the Italian city for Diane von Furstenberg's 14th Annual DVF Awards, stunned onlookers as they headed to their dinner reservation. Amal was honoured at the DVF Awards for her work with human rights abuse victims. Heartthrob George and his Lebanese-British barrister wife took a water taxi to suave canal-side eatery, Ristorante Da Ivo on Tuesday.
Amal looked elegant in an emerald green gown with a split, while her brunette hair hung in chic loose waves. George, 62, was dapper as ever. Donning a dark-coloured suit, his silver hair slicked back as he helped his wife in and out of the boat. The couple, who share two children together, six-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, recently holidayed together in Lake Como. They own an incredible Italian mansion in the upscale resort area and are often seen going out for romantic dinner dates together.

Speaking on the actor's chat show, The Drew Barrymore Show, he revealed: "The funniest thing is Bryan Lourd my agent called me, he had just met Amal at some other thing and she was like, 'Yeah I am going to go to Como with a friend of mine,' and he called me up and he said, 'There's a girl coming to your house that you are going to marry'."
George said he dismissed his agent's comment, adding: "I was like, 'You're an idiot. You know that's not going to happen.'" Speaking to Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, in 2015, he said his proposal shocked Amal. He said: "I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal. When I asked her we had never talked about it. There wasn't like 'Maybe we should get married.' I dropped it on her!"
George gushed: "I have someone I can talk to about anything and someone who I care about more than I've cared about anything, so it's really nice.: They went on to marry in 2014 and welcomed their twins in 2017.
