Victoria Beckham sworn at by iconic band after strict ban on Top of the Pops
Victoria Beckham left the Top of the Pops crew and stars feeling 'super awkward' after issuing a strange eye contact ban ahead of her arrival to the studio, former host Gail Porter has revealed.
Posh Spice performed live on the iconic BBC music show in 2000 as part of her solo career launch, taking to the stage alongside fellow singer Dane Bowers with her new song, Out of Your Mind. The contemporary dance track, which was written by British duo True Steppers, marked Victoria's first independent material after the Spice Girls' break up.
It has now been revealed, however, that Victoria's time on the programme wasn't so much fun behind-the-scenes. Gail Porter, who presented at the time, has now claimed the British fashion designer was sworn at by the Scottish rock band, Travis, after she allegedly banned people from staring at her backstage.

"And lovely Travis, I was looking at them and they were making w***er signals." Victoria and Dane then froze after the iconic rock band's rude gesture, unsure how to react while also seemingly confused as to whether or not the cameras were still rolling.
"We were all sitting in the makeup room, watching on the monitor, going, 'They’re still there'," Gail continued. "The cameraman was like, 'I’m not moving, this is too funny'. I said, 'That’s mean'. He said: 'It’s hilarious'.”

Posh Spice also performed Out of Your Mind, which she was "flattered" to sing on, in front of 60,000 people at a live Radio 1 show in Middlesbrough's Stewart Park in August 2000. In her autobiography, Victoria revealed she always wears large sunglasses to avoid making eye contact in public, after advice from her former band's security. "'Don’t make eye contact', one of the Spice Girl security once told me," she wrote. "That’s why celebrities wear dark glasses. Like me today. So head down."

It's been widely reportedly the 49-year-old, who is now best known for her fashion line, opted out of the Spice Girls reunion tour in 2019 for this very reason.
"It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says: 'You know, I'm not doing it because things feel different now than they used to'," Victoria later told Vogue Germany. "I'd rather concentrate on my family and my company. I'm 45 now and very happy to be the woman I am…"
It remains to be seen whether or not Victoria will return for the Spice Girls' 30th anniversary reunion next year.
