Jon Jones is having "nightmares" about Stipe Miocic ahead of their UFC heavyweight title fight.

Jones is scheduled to make the first defence of his heavyweight belt against former champion Miocic at UFC 295 on November 11. Miocic makes his octagon return after a two and a half year layoff as the 41-year-old hasn't fought since being brutally knocked out by Francis Ngannou in March 2021.

'Bones' won the heavyweight title by tapping out Ciryl Gane in less than two minutes earlier this year. The consensus greatest MMA fighter of all time is still at the top of his game despite being well over a decade into his UFC career, but he admitted to still getting extremely nervous before his fights.

“At this point, I still get really nervous," Jones told Kanpai Pandas. "I have nightmares about my opponents. About every hour, Stipe Miocic will cross my mind. I could be having a drink, you name it, he crosses my mind. I could be at my kid’s volleyball game and I thinking about Stipe. There’s a lot of mental that goes into it that I don’t think people realise, but the goal is to just conquer that.”

"I feel like when you get to a place when you don’t feel anything is probably when it’s time to hang it up and try something different. Stipe has balls, he has courage. He’s not the youngest fighter, but that is a man. I’m not the youngest either. In sporting years, I’m over the hill, that’s for sure. Especially in combat sports."

Jones and Miocic have been linked to a fight for years, but many fans feel Miocic is past his prime and the match-up is happening too late. Jones fails to share the same view as he views Miocic as the greatest heavyweight ever, insisting that both men owe it to each other to meet in the cage.

"Stipe is an honourable dude and I know that he wants this fight. Everyone else thinks that his back is against the wall and this is a David and Goliath situation for him. I disagree. I think Stipe is a very capable athlete and I think I owe it to Stipe to give him that chance to fight the best fighter ever. I think Stipe owes it to me to give me a chance to fight the greatest heavyweight ever. I think we owe it to each other," Jones added.
