With the clock ticking on the transfer window, Manchester United's work is not done.

Erik ten Hag's side have spent big this summer, with Rasmus Hojlund their marquee attacking signing. The Dane is yet to make his debut, though, with fellow new arrival Mason Mount also on the injured list.

Left-back is another area of concern, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both facing spells on the sidelines. United are running out of time to land a replacement, with a number of names targeted, and that's the main focus as Mirror Football brings you the latest lines from around Old Trafford.

Pochettino gives Cucurella update

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said the Blues are still planning for life with Marc Cucurella for the time being. The Spaniard is thought to be keen on a United switch after losing his place at Stamford Bridge.

"I cannot talk about supposition or rumours," the Argentine said ahead of Chelsea's Carabao Cup meeting with AFC Wimbledon. "At the moment, nothing has changed. Tomorrow [Wednesday] he is able to play and the club hasn't informed me of his situation."

Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton in a £62m deal last summer. However, Pochettino has preferred Levi Colwill at left-back at the start of the Premier League season.

Man Utd have made an initial approach to Roma for left-back Leonardo Spinazzola, according to Gianluca Di Marzio (via Football Italia). The Premier League side are understood to be fans of the Italy international, though no formal bid has been lodged at the time of writing.

Spinazzola was one of the stars of Italy's run to Euro 2020 glory. However, an achilles injury suffered at that tournament kept him out for most of the 2021-22 season.

The 30-year-old was back in the fold last term, playing the majority of Roma's Serie A games. He started the Europa League final defeat against Sevilla, and has featured twice in Serie A this term.

Maguire expected to stay

There is a "growing" feeling Harry Maguire will stay at Man Utd, according to The BBC. A £30m bid from West Ham was accepted earlier in the window, but the centre-back was unable to agree personal terms.

West Ham haven't given up hope of a deal, though they have now completed a move for fellow centre-back Dinos Mavropanos. Maguire, meanwhile, could prove more important to United after Raphael Varane's recent injury.

Erik ten Hag said he would need to wait on Varane's fitness after the Frenchman was forced off early against Nottingham Forest. With occasional centre-back Luke Shaw also on the treatment table, Maguire isn't far from being required.
