Fans are calling for Kim Cattrall, who formerly played Samatha Jones in Sex and the City, to save season three of the HBO reboot And Just Like That as viewers long for the return of the iconic character.

Viewers have been demanding Samantha join the cast for the entire season two as she was briefly introduced into the plot during her highly anticipated cameo in the season finale episode that fans claimed was a "an embarrassing abomination." In the cameo, Samatha reunited with Carrie during a two minute phone call that viewers described as ingenuine and "uncomfortable" to watch.

After season two of the Sex and the City spinoff wrapped up, a source told Heat News: "Season two had a lot of mixed reviews, despite Carrie getting back with Aidan," they continued: "Everyone knows it's been missing Samantha and talks are ongoing about how to make it work. They're practically willing to offer a blank cheque to sign her up, then they can work out whether she would have to work directly with Sarah Jessica or they could film things differently."

The insider continued to tell the publication: "It would be a logistical nightmare, but producers know that something spectacular needs to happen for series three to be a success."

There has been a public feud between Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, for many years. The pair who had been featured alongside one another in Sex and the City for years reportedly had a "toxic relationship" that both women have shared in interviews.

In an interview with Pier Morgan in October of 2017, Kim claimed that she was "never friends" with Jessica. She claimed the pair had a difficult relationship and that is why she didn't appear in the third Sex and the City movie which she added that Jessica "could have been nicer" about.

In 2021, Kim refused to be a part of the And Just Like That reboot of Sex and the City, a HBO series that follows the Sex and the City characters as they navigate friendship, careers, parenthood, and love in their 50's. The reboot carried on without Samantha's sassy character for two seasons, but now viewers are calling for the beloved character to return for the third season - a request that would be difficult to carry out since Kim and Jessica refuse to film together.

It seems as though producers were able to work around the request for the cameo performance, which appears to be filmed without Kim needing to be in the same room as any of her former cast members, but would take more strategic planning to be done in any more involved role. And Just Like That has been renewed for a third season, but Samantha is not expected to return despite the phone call ending on a potential cliffhanger.
