Cynthia Nixon risks reigniting Sex and the City feud with jibe at Kim Cattrall
Cynthia Nixon has taken a swipe at former Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall - risking reigniting the long running feud between the cast members.
The 57-year-old American actress made something of a passive aggressive comment about 66-year-old Kim while contrasting her experience of working on Sex and the City and sequel series And Just Like That…
Cynthia and her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis have a long established feud with Kim after they clashed behind the scenes of the original show that ran from 1998 until 2004.
And while Kim had refused to take part in the sequel series, she is now expected to make a shock return in season 2, but it seems Cynthia may have frothed up some bad blood ahead of the new season airing later this month.
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, Cynthia - who plays Miranda Hobbes - got candid about working without Kim on And Just Like That’s first season and contrasted it with her Sex and the City filming experience.
Major And Just Like That teaser shows Carrie snogging her ex after Big's deathShe said: “It felt very different also because we have these new amazing characters, and we’re older and our fictional children are now largely grown.
“Many things felt different. But the main thing that felt so great was that everybody who was there really wanted to be there. That’s just the bottom line.”
She continued: “We all love each other, we love our show, we wanted to do more of it. And we all wanted to be there.
‘So that makes an enormous difference, that you’re not walking around on eggshells with someone who’s unhappy for reasons that are hard to even understand what they are.”
The behind the scenes drama of Sex and the City erupted into the public sphere in 2018 when Kim lashed out at 58-year-old Sarah when the latter sent condolences to the former following the death of her brother.
Kim hit out at the time to blast Sarah on social media, writing: “You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.“
Kim is due to reprise her role of Samantha Jones on season two of And Just Like That… which will begin airing from June 22.
The star reportedly recorded one scene that didn’t involve any of her co-stars being on set.
Fellow actor Evan Handler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt on the show, explained that Kim filmed her scenes with a reduced crew and that he is as in the dark about how the scene will play out as fans are.
He said previously: “Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody.
