This Morning's Andi Peters makes awkward dig at Rochelle Humes

Andi Peters made an awkward dig at This Morning co-host Rochelle Humes about her time in The Saturdays.

Despite having massive success as part of one of the UK’s biggest girl bands between 2007 and 2014, Andi told Rochelle he "genuinely didn’t know" she had made several albums and scored hits including the number one track What About Us. Opening ITV ’s This Morning on the Bank Holiday Monday, Andi asked Rochelle: "When you were in The Saturdays, did you ever do a song about Mondays?"

"No, no, no. I feel like this is a test and there might be something in there I've forgotten," Rochelle replied. Andi then asked: "Did you do albums and stuff?" When Rochelle said "Yes," Andi looked shocked and said: "Wow you had albums? I genuinely didn’t know. Oh my Gosh, wow." Rochelle broke into a fit of giggles as she said: "We had quite a few. I think we had three or four. Don’t let me get Spotify out, because I will!"

When Andi said he had heard of JLS – the boy band Rochelle’s husband Marvin Humes used to be part of – Rochelle hit back: "That’s charming!" Later on in the show she quipped about co-host Andi: "He’s trying to be nice now. I see you." Then turning to viewers, she said: "He’s scared."

Fans took to Twitter to react to the awkward moment, with one saying: "Does Andi not own a radio or a TV? #ThisMorning." Another wrote: "Someone needs to tell @andipeters that @RochelleHumes had six albums 2 with S Club 8 and 4 with The Saturdays."

"Amazing that Andi Peters on @thismorning was so shocked that @TheSaturdays had ‘Albums’ (like real ones!) #ThisMorning," a third chimed in. A fourth commented: "Tbf The Saturdays had a couple of bangers #thismorning." While a fifth said: "Thought I’d put This Morning on for the lolz and it opened with a deeply unfunny extended ‘bit’ with Andi Peters pretending to be surprised that co-host Rochelle Humes actually released albums with The Saturdays."

But other viewers said how much they were enjoying the Bank Holiday show, which saw Andi get up and dance to N Sync as he and Rochelle discussed what bands they would like to see get back together. One fan tweeted: "Never thought I’d say this but am loving Andi Peters! Think he’s wasted on competitions, been in the business a long time! Rochelle is a breath of fresh air too! The two of them are much more real."

Another viewer said: "Can I just say I think Andy and Rochelle are fabulous presenting This Morning. Not stopped laughing! Brilliant."

*This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX
