Police contacted Drew Barrymore's alleged stalker just days before arrest
A man who was arrested on suspicion of stalking following his disturbing message to Drew Barrymore from the crowd at a 92nd Street Y event in New York was reportedly spoken to by police just days earlier.
The man was arrested on Thursday at 11.59pm local time by the Southampton Town Police. He was subsequently booked in a misdemeanour charge of stalking in the fourth degree according to a press release from Lt. Todd Spencer of the department.
He is said to have been held overnight and will now appear at Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment. His arrest comes one day after the Southampton PD received a 911 call about an individual displaying suspicious behaviour in the Town of Southampton.

A follow-up investigation then saw the department's detective division notified of the allegations regarding the man's conduct and together with previously reported incidents “led to facts that substantiated a charge for stalking.” Therefore on Thursday afternoon, East Hampton Town Police are said to have located him and reportedly taken him into custody before being handed over to Southampton PD.
On Monday, Drew was appearing at the 92nd Street Y event alongside fellow actress Reneé Rapp when the alleged stalker appeared shouting the talk show host's name and walking swiftly down the aisle towards the front of the theatre. Drew had her vision obstructed at the time and said hello into the crowd.

I need to see you at some point while I’m in New York.” Renee subsequently stood up and placed her arm around Drew escorting her from the stage. Busto was then removed from the front row in the auditorium by a member of the venues security staff.
Both Drew and Renee returned to the stage following the disturbance which they addressed briefly before continuing with the scheduled event.
