Paris Hilton has opened up for the first time about 'her shame' having an abortion in her early 20s as she 'wasn't ready'.

The Hilton heiress, 42, told how how she was 'just a kid' but has never spoken publicly about her decision until nearly two decades later.

The Simple Life reality star has now become a mom, via surrogate, and welcomed son Phoenix with husband Carter Reum.

Paris had told in recent years of her desire to have a child and underwent IVF before opting to have a surrogate carry their first child together.

"You are already loved beyond words," Paris wrote as she shared a snap showing her infant's tiny hand.

Paris has since spoken of her abortion experience and become an activist against the abortion laws in the US which saw t procedure becoming illegal in certain states.

Speaking to Glamour UK she told: "This was also something that I didn’t want to talk about because there was so much shame around that. I was a kid and I was not ready for that."

Condemning the overturning of the Supreme Courts Roe v Wade, she added: "It’s your body, your choice and I really believe in that. It’s mind-boggling to me that they’re making laws about what you do with your reproductive health, because if it were the other way around with the guys, it would not be this way at all.''

Last year's highly controversial ruling overturned nearly 50 years of precedent, permitting states to pass their own laws around abortion.

But the grand daughter of the Hilton hotelier refused to be drawn into claims she had voted for Donald Trump and he was a 'close family friend' simply adding: ‘not any more.’

Paris had told in recent years of her desire to have a child and underwent IVF before opting to have a surrogate carry their first child together.

The new chapter to parenthood has also co-incided with Paris opening up about her past in a Memoir due to be released next month.

The socialite shared a string of snaps from her lavish wedding in Bel-Air in 2021.

She also shone the spotlight on her White House lobbying for better oversight into congregate care facilities due to her own experience at age 16.

She admitted in a lengthy post: "While I'm nervous to be more vulnerable and open than ever before, I'm also excited to share the winding road that finally led me to healing, happiness and marrying the love of my life.
