A Geordie Shore star's restaurant has been forced to close after just two years as it faces debts of over £360,000.

Greg Lake, who appeared in the first series of the hit MTV show, opened Novo in Morpeth, Northumberland in 2021. The exclusive eatery was popular with celebs but has closed its doors after two years. Greg went into partnership with his girlfriend's mum Jeanette to open the venture, but now face debts of more than £360,000.

Documents on Companies House show the company behind the restaurant has gone into liquidation. G&L (Morpeth) Ltd appointed a liquidator last month and documents show staff are owed £5,561 in holiday pay and arrears. TV star Greg is also owed £147,562, while suppliers are also owed money including nearly £2,000 to a local butcher.

Novo received rave reviews from customers during its time, gaining 4.7 out of five stars on Google reviews. Just last month one customer wrote: "Lovely food and great service. Will be visiting again soon." Another added: "Absolutely beautiful meal. Tap water was lovely too! Servers made lots of effort to ensure the experience was a positive one. Good music play list." It was also popular with Newcastle United players and local celebs as Karl Darlow and Chris Wood praised Novo's Sunday Roast.

Kieran Trippier was also a fan and fellow Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison also posted her love for Novo. The restaurant's social media channels have been removed following the sudden closure. Greg was the only original cast member to appear in a single series of Geordie Shore. After ditching the show following its special episode Magaluf Madness, Greg kept a relatively low profile apart from appearances on Irish reality series Celebrity Salon.

Greg dated Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe for eight years and they share a son together, Daye. However, Jennifer confirmed on social media in August 2020 that the couple had split. She posted a note which read: "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple months ago. We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times."

Speaking to Chronicle Live at the time of opening, Greg said: "My girlfriend lives in Morpeth so it's a place I've spent a lot of time in. My favourite thing to do is to go out, have food and some good wine and for me, while Morpeth has got a lovely Italian and some good restaurants, there was a gap in the market for a place like Novo. I want Novo to attract every calibre of person, as I believe we cater for all." Greg also runs a sustainable heating and insulation company, GEC Power.
