Capcom showed off three new characters for Street Fighter 6 and a trailer for Resident Evil 4 to give tonight's PlayStation stream a much needed boost.

PlayStation State of Play gave us not one, but two new trailers from Capcom. First off, we were shown gameplay for the final three characters joining the launch roster of Street Fighter 6. First was the return of everyone's favourite brawny Russian grappler Zangief, who looks better than ever as he manhandled E.Honda throughout the trailer. Best of all he ditched the speedos for some classic wrestling tights.

Next up was newcomer Lily who evokes the spirit of the wind and two giant clubs to batter her enemies like a whirlwind. Finally, Cammy makes her return finally ditching the leotard for possibly her best design yet. Unfortunately for me she looks just as nimble as before with a move set focused on overwhelming her opponents.

After the state that Street Fighter 5 launched in it's nice to see that Capcom is giving Street Fighter 6 the tender love and care it deserves. It's looking like it could be a bona fide game of the year contender to me. I guess we'll find out when it launches on June 2, 2023.

Got a good selection of things on sale stranger.

We were also treated to a brand new Resident Evil 4 remake trailer, which gave us our first look at Major Jack Krauser - Leon's rival throughout the game, including a look at the iconic knife fight. The new trailer showed us an in-depth look at the castle area from later on in the game.

When rumours first started coming out about a remake of Resident Evil 4 which would strike a darker tone, I was worried. The original still holds up, and the semi-comedic tone is one of the best things about it. Thankfully, each time I see Resident Evil 4 remake, I get more excited. for it (it has knife parries!). It looks like we could be seeing a one-two punch of Capcom game of the year contenders, just like in 2019 with Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5.

The trailer ended with a confirmation that The Mercenaries – the popular side-mode in past Resident Evil titles – will be making it's return in Resident Evil 4. Capcom later elaborated on the PlayStation Blog that this mode would be added post-launch as free DLC, just like the recently announced PSVR 2 exclusive VR Mode. A demo was also announced for a later date, but it's confirmed to be arriving before the game launches on March 24, 2023.
