Patsy Kensit breaks silence after engagement split with heartbreaking update
Patsy Kensit has said she is on a ‘break up diet’ as she speaks out for the first time about the sad collapse of her engagement to businessman Patric Cassidy.
The 55-year-old soap star icon surprised diners at Scotts restaurant in London last year when she became engaged to the 56-year-old development firm owner. The pair later shared romantic photographs earlier this year when Patric got down on one knee again to propose to Patsy with an impressive ring.
But the romance proved to be short-lived and the engagement was called off in July, with Patsy vowing to focus on her work. Now the star has been opening up about how she has been moving on from her latest love-life disaster. And it seems Patsy could be struggling as she tends to her broken heart. Taking to social media at the start of the week, the Emmerdale and EastEnders star explained she is taking things one day at a time.
She shared a photograph of herself looking reserved and with pursed lips and added the caption: "Baby steps., I call it the break up diet.." A string of fans and fellow stars rushed to comment on Patsy’s post, with many offering a shoulder to cry on. Radio host and former WAG, Lizzie Cundy was among the first to offer support. She wrote in the comment section of Patsy’s post: "I’m here for you darling . Let’s go for a wee drink and have a good giggle . Love you."
In July, news broke Patsy and Patric had opted to go their separate ways. A spokesperson said at the time: "I can confirm they have split, and would appreciate that she is given her privacy regarding the matter. She is currently very busy working." While an insider added to The Sun: "The whirlwind romance has come to a halt and the couple have decided to go their separate ways. Patsy has lots of exciting work opportunities at the moment, and she is throwing herself into her career."
New EastEnders star Patsy Kensit lifts the lid on the roles she loves to playPatsy could be regarded as somewhat unlucky in love as she has been engaged five times, and married four. She first got married in 1988 when she was 20 years old and tied-the-knot with keyboardist Dan Donovan, 60, of the band Big Audio Dynamite. That marriage ended in divorce in 1991 – but Patsy didn’t wait long to tie-the-knot again as she swiftly married 64-year-old Scottish musician Jim Kerr of the band Simple Minds in 1992. She welcomed a son with him in 1993, but they ultimately split and divorced in 1996.
Patsy then married Oasis rock star Liam Gallagher in 1997 and they welcomed a son named Lennon together in 1999. They split in divorced in the year 2000. Patsy’s next husband was DJ Jeremy Healy, who she had been friends with since her own singing days when she was in the pop band Eighth Wonder in the 1980s. They began dating in 2007 and announced their engagement that same year but split in 2008 and called off the wedding, only to reconcile and swap vows in April 2009 – but they split again in 2010 and divorced.
