Real Madrid 'plotting' last-ditch bid for Mbappe with offer to tempt PSG

Real Madrid are putting together an audacious plan to sign Kylian Mbappe in the closing days of the transfer window.

The Frenchman looks to have no future with Paris Saint-Germain. He had rejected a new contract at the Parc des Princes and was subsequently banned from training with the squad, with it being suggested that he was being lined up for a move to Real Madrid.

He was not allowed to travel to Japan for a pre-season tour. Mbappe then also missed the opening match of the Ligue 1 season - a goalless draw against Lorient.

The former Monaco frontman has been reintegrated over recent days after returning to training. Speaking after his return, PSG boss Luis Enrique said: “Kylian Mbappe is perfect from what I saw in training.

“He has a lot of desire and and is in a very good state of mind. I'm very happy to have a world-class player like Kylian.”

Despite a resolution having seemingly been reached, rumours over an exit refuse to go away. According to German outlet Bild, Real Madrid are planning to lodge a bid for his services.

It is suggested that they could offer €120million (£103million) for his services. That offer will only be tabled in the final few days of the transfer window in order to put pressure on PSG to sell.

Mbappe currently only has one year left on his contract in the French capital and would be available on a free transfer next summer. Should Real Madrid get a deal over the line, he would become the Spanish giants’ sixth signing of the summer.

Los Blancos have already moved for Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Fran Garcia. They have also signed Kepa Arrizabalaga and Joselu on-loan.

Mbappe appeared to drop a clue over his future as he returned to the squad over the weekend. The 24-year-old was named on the bench against Toulouse and was introduced as a second-half substitute.

He scored the opener from the penalty spot just after the hour mark and appeared to shout “I am staying here” as he celebrated. Despite Mbappe being back on the scoresheet, PSG were not able to hold on to victory following Zakaria Aboukhlal’s late equaliser.

Should Mbappe move on, they would be losing all three of the major attacking signings they have made over the past few seasons. Former Barcelona star Lionel Messi left the club at the end of his contract to join MLS side Inter Miami.

Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Neymar has also quit the Parc des Princes this summer as he completed a big-money move to Saudi side Al-Hilal.
