Eddie Hearn begs Nate Diaz "please don't choke me out" after recent comments

Eddie Hearn has begged Nate Diaz to not choke him out after the promoter criticised his recent fight against Jake Paul.

UFC legend Diaz came up short in his boxing debut earlier this month as he was dropped on the way to a one-sided decision defeat against Paul. The fight was a big success as Paul has claimed it sold 500,000 pay-per-view buys and despite Hearn praising the event as a whole, the Matchroom Boxing boss wasn't impressed with the actual fight.

Hearn's comments didn't sit well with Diaz as he tweeted in response: ""Eddie Hearn I’ll beat all ur fighters a**es. Lightweight, middleweight, Heavyweights, any weight, all of them will get f***ed up. Unless it’s complimentary keep my name outta your mouth cause u might get it also, and fighters check your promoter so he doesn’t get u guys punked."

Hearn joked that he is worried Diaz will choke him out the next time he sees him in person as he told Boxing Social: "If Nate Diaz does see me, please don't choke me out. Very scary, probably more scary than John Fury. Out of ten, ten being most scared, twelve. They said what do you think of Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz and I said, as an event, unbelievable. But, in terms of the boxing quality, really poor.

"I don't think you should be threatened or penalised for giving your opinion on a fight. I'm a big fan, genuinely I'm a big fan of Nate Diaz, he's a very good boxer, but, I promote some of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. I'm not saying he can't box, but he can't box at that level."

Hearn said that women's welterweight world champion Sandy Ryan is the only one of his fighters so far to come forward and accept Diaz's challenge. "He said he'll fight any of my fighters from welterweight to heavyweight and I've only had one request. Sandy Ryan said she would do it, that's the only one who has put herself forward so far, but obviously she's fighting Jessica McCaskill," he added.

Diaz accepted an MMA rematch against Paul after his defeat but has since backtracked on a potential cage meeting by tweeting: "Nah we boxing." Paul has insisted that if his rematch with Diaz falls through then he will pursue a second fight with Tommy Fury, who handed Paul his first professional defeat back in February.
