Harry Kane scored his first goal for Bayern Munich to help the German giants beat Werder Bremen 4-0 and cap a dream Bundesliga debut.

The England captain rifled a shot from inside the penalty area into the bottom left-hand corner after team-mate Alphonso Davies sparked a lethal counter attack down the left flank. Kane, 30, had taken just four minutes to register an assist earlier in the match, superbly setting up Leroy Sane's opener.

It's been less than a week since the Tottenham hero completed his transfer to Bayern which could prove to be worth more than £100million. Kane's debut for the club came last Saturday when they were humiliated 3-0 by rivals RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.

Spurs and England's all-time record goalscorer came on as a second-half substitute and understandably struggled to find his rhythm, but it was a different story in Bremen. Kane instantly made an impact by teeing up Sane for his fourth-minute strike, playing a neat through ball from his own half to find the rapid German winger, who finished with ease.

Then, in the 74th minute - shortly before he was subbed off - Kane did what he does best by dispatching a simple chance to wrap up the three points on opening night for Bayern, who added two more goals through Sane and Kane's replacement, Mathys Tel. Manager Thomas Tuchel was delighted with his new No.9, who he hopes can power the Bavarians to a 12th straight league title and a Champions League triumph come May.

"I don't think it is going to be the first time in his career (he has been under pressure)," Tuchel told a press conference ahead of the Werder clash. "So that is why he will learn to transfer the pressure into performance and stay relaxed.

"It is not about life or death. It is a game, a competitive game and he has proved for about 10 years how he does it, so I am not worried about Harry. The Harry Kane effect will not be gone (if we lose). It is the way he works in training, in the locker room, his professionalism, the way he goes about things and how humble he is in training, how keen he is in training.

"The way he acts after such a game, after a loss, he is the first on the training pitch, he works with the reserve players, he is the one walking ahead who is inspiring others. That is what makes that transfer fee (worthwhile), not only his goal-scoring record but all the other things as well."
