Rylan stuns fans with marriage post as they offer their bemused congratulations
Rylan Clark has left fans in tears by announcing his surprise 'marriage' two years after his split from ex-husband Dan Neal.
The X Factor star took to Instagram on Saturday to share the delightful news that he was once again taken, much to the amusement of his 1.7million followers. Rylan's 'nupitals' were officiated during a recent appearance on The Last Leg, after his confession to crushing on an unlikely audience member landed him an invitation onto the Channel 4 comedy show.
"Is it weird to think the gimp on @TheLastLeg is attractive or have I been single too long?", Rylan asked on his Twitter account on July 28. He then added: "For those out of context here - there was an actual man on the show dressed in a gimp outfit".
The 34-year-old later explained on the show that he'd posted the tweet while home alone on a Friday night after enjoying a "couple of glasses of red wine." He then sent a direct message to The Last Leg's official Twitter account with the order to "find him", despite admittedly not remembering that he'd sent the thirsty message.
The Last Leg host Adam Hills was quick to take on the challenge by asking Rylan to appear on the show for a romantic date, which culminated in an impromptu wedding ceremony with the leather-clad man. "Rylan, I believe you've written your own vows," host Josh Widdicombe said, to which the Celebrity Big Brother star quipped, "Have I?"
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingHe then proceeded to improvise a romantic speech, sending the hosts and audience alike into hysterics with his saucy words. "I'm just a man standing in front of a gimp asking him to love me," he said, before admitting, "I wish I knew how to unzip you."
"Just got married on @thelastlegofficial and Zippy was best man," Rylan later captioned his Instagram photo, which showed him smiling with his arm around the show's resident puppet and donning a wedding ring.
The comical moment comes not long after Rylan opened up about his despair following his split from his husband of six years, Dan Neal. The relationship breakdown had a devastating effect on the Celebrity Big Brother star's mental and physical health, forcing him to take four months off work during which time he admitted himself to hospital for treatment.
"My body did completely shut down. I wouldn't eat. I went through a stage where I couldn't even talk, which for some people might be quite handy," he told Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place Podcast. "My speech was just slurred. My mum thought I was having a stroke. My body just went. I went down to 9st and I am six-foot-four." In another interview with Elizabeth Day, Rylan described the ordeal as "extremely traumatic."
