Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds react to club's historic win

Wrexham co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have reacted to the club's first win of the season, congratulating fans and players involved.

McElhenney posted, "First league win!!! Congrats to all!!!!" on social media following Wrexham's 4-2 victory over Walsall. "Looking very good under the lights in Wrexham tonight," wrote Reynolds on social media after the win. Under the post, club fans expressed their excitement to have aspirations of climbing higher in the pyramid system.

The two actors are all in on Wrexham, with their involvement as owners going beyond support on social media, as documented in the docuseries "Welcome to Wrexham." Wrexham fans have acknowledged McElhenney and Reynolds as crucial factors for the club's recent success.

Specifically, after the team played Sheffield United last February, an Instagram user wrote, "The scenes in Wrexham were crazy last night. I will never forget how this has lifted the town (city) [and] brought people together in such a powerful way.

"People all over the world are talking about Wrexham with genuine excitement. It's more than a promotion. It's more than football; it is getting our pride back. Thank you, Rob and Ryan," the user continued.

The win against Walsall marked the club's first win in EFL League Two since 2008. The club spent the past eight seasons in the National League, the fifth-highest level of the football pyramid system, and earned promotion after winning the table last season.

McElhenney and Reynolds also acknowledged Paul Mullin, the club's 28-year-old striker who punctured his lung in a pre-season matchup against Manchester United. Mullin was rushed to the hospital after he collided with goalkeeper Nathan Bishop. Wrexham was still able to win the pre-season matchup 3-1.

McElhenney showed his support for Mullins - who could not leave the United States for a while due to the severity of his injury - by offering encouragement, taking photos with him, and attending to his needs all while putting him up in an apartment. He had nothing but praise for his striker and was a comforting presence throughout the downtime.

"Rob, Ryan, and everyone at the club have looked after me amazingly," Mullin told The Athletic. "The owners even sent a PlayStation to the Long Beach apartment where we were staying. It helped pass the time.

"Ryan offered to fly my entire family out, and Rob said I could stay with him in his Los Angeles home. I'm sure he has the room, but I was happy to stay out of the way. So they sorted an apartment for us instead.

"Rob visited me there before heading to Wales for our opening game of the season against MK Dons. I would have loved to be getting on that plane with him, but I had to stay there and rest. I haven't been able to walk for too long , and every time I move, it hurts."

Club manager Phil Parkinson also provided a positive update regarding Mullin, stating that there were no further complications regarding the punctured lung on Tuesday. He indicated that Mullins would return to the club "in weeks rather than months."
