People are just finding out what the green price tags mean at Costco

With the price of everything going up and no clear end in sight, whenever it’s possible to grab a bargain people should grab it with both hands. Wholesale store Costco is great for buying in bulk lots of staples, and for families, it can mean saving plenty of money but you could be planning your shopping much better with a little insider knowledge.

While the majority of labels on items are white, every now and again you’ll probably come across a green one that has no rhyme or reason to be there. What does it mean? Well, thanks to the website Minnesota News Country they’ve now debunked the mystery.

Sharing the information, it was revealed the green tags actually refer to whether or not a product is organic. It’s that simple. The site also revealed that if shoppers spot an asterisk * on a price tag at Costco, they should snap it up as that little star indicates the item will not be restocked.

And that’s not the only coding the wholesale giant uses, according to PopSugar, if a price ends in .99, it means that it is a full-price, staple item, so will be around for a while yet. The site also revealed that if the tag ends in a .00 or .88, it means the item is either low in stock or has been returned by another customer so there probably aren’t anymore. So grab it while you can.

Last but not least, if a price tag ends in .97, you could be looking at an amazing discount which is known as a ‘Manager Special’ and won’t be around for long. If you’re feeling thrifty and want to know exactly how much you’re saving, ask a member of staff.
