Customer in stitches as baker's dinosaur birthday cake goes terribly wrong
People have been left crying with laughter after a bakery sold a dinosaur cake that didn't turn out quite like it was supposed to.
The birthday cake was sold in Costco, according to the stunned customer, who reckons they could have done a better after seeing the 'ridiculous' result.
Thankfully, the shopper saw the funny side of things and happily laughed along with unimpressed staff, who discounted the cake to 1p.
Posting a hilarious side-by-side comparison on Reddit, the customer shared a photo of their online order next to the product they received. The first shows a sweet creature with colourful accents and a wide grin.
But the second shows a messier dinosaur, decorated with the same colours but none of the flair of the first cake.
Mum's touching gesture to young son who died leaves Morrisons shopper in tears"Happy 40th Birthday Jason. You old dinosaur!" the icing reads. Sadly, several commenters did not think the cake would impress Jason.
One person quipped: "The dinosaur on the cake: Happy birthday Jason, but kill me please and end my suffering." And a second joked: "'Hi yeah can I get a cake, and have it decorated by someone who's never decorated a cake before and has no drawing skills? Yes, pickup Thursday would be fine.'"
The post's author alleged: "I think the designated 'Dinosaur cake decorator' called in sick that day or they were very hungover!" In another comment, they added: "My sister was with me and I think they discounted it because she said (not complaining, more joking) that she thought she could have done a better job of it."
Meanwhile, other viewers suggested the cake was improved by its quirky design. "It's better this way and you can tell Jason he's worth every pence," read one such response. "Every single penny!!" the shopper agreed.
Someone else wrote: "Task failed successfully in my book. That's hilarious." A second put: "Yo the dinosaur has a mullet." And a third suggested: "Next year pay them to recreate it using the second pic as your source image, and see how they butcher it then. And then the following year, use the 2nd cake as a source image."
Unfortunately for fans of the misshapen cake, it doesn't sound like it is a common occurrence.
Explaining the response of the store's staff, the customer reported: "They couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it looked and calling over other employees to take a look. So I think that it wasn't a usual occurrence to have the dino look like ours."
