Best alternatives to River Island’s sell-out leather ‘jacket of the season’

When River Island dropped their brown leather oversized biker jacket last week, with shoppers after the retailer dubbed it the ‘jacket of the season’. So it wasn’t really a surprise when it sold out entirely over the weekend, despite carrying a £195 price tag.

The is something of a wardrobe investment, but one that shoppers have been more than happy to make, it seems. Particularly after the somewhat similar Zara biker jacket - as seen on Molly Mae Hague - also sold out.

After being shared on the River Island social media accounts last week, fashion fans swooned over the , commenting on Instagram : “Omgggg need in my life,” while others said they were "obsessed" with the “gorgeous” accessory.

Some may have put off snapping up the due to its price, while others may not have intended to purchase it but are now suffering from some serious FOMO. Either way, fear not, because we’ve hunted down some of the best alternatives so you can live your best life this autumn, while wearing the dreamiest of leather or leather-look jackets. And the best news? They’re all cheaper, too.

River Island’s is very similar, but made of Polyurethane and costs less than half the price at £75. It’s a little longer and doesn’t have the belt detail, but it’s a fantastic option for less than half the price.

Meanwhile, sell-out Zara jacket for just £40, down from £50, which is a more cropped style. This option is shorter than the River Island jacket and lighter in colour, but does boast a similar belted design and relaxed fit, perfect for achieving that ‘cool girl’ aesthetic.

Starring all the classic biker-inspired details is the Marks and Spencer It's designed in a comfy regular fit with a boxy shape and an off-centre zip, though isn’t as distressed as some of the other options we’ve seen, so definitely has a cleaner ‘new’ look to it.

With a similarly fresh feel is the , which should be £180, but with the code SUN, is currently £126 for a limited time, saving customers £54. It’s 100 per cent leather and comes in size 6-24, with a tailored collar for that rebel edge.
