Keanu Reeves takes to the stage with band Dogstar for first tour in 20 years

Keanu Reeves took to the stage earlier this week for the opening night of his band Dogstar's new headline tour, which came ahead of their latest single being released.

The alternative rock band - who formed in 1991 - embarked on their tour with a concert on Thursday. It's understood to mark their first tour in two decades, following the band having reformed earlier this year, after disbanding in 2002.

Dogstar - which consists of Keanu, 58, alongside bandmates Robert Mailhouse and Bret Domrose - opened the new tour in California this week. They performed a reportedly sold-out concert at the venue Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach.

Keanu - whose best known for his acting roles in films series like The Matrix - took to the stage at the venue to play his guitar. He was seen wearing a dark t-shirt, that reportedly featured the venue's logo, and a pair of dark trousers. He's said to have interacted with fans in between songs.

Ahead of the concert, the band shared their excitement on Instagram. They wrote on the platform: "Tour kicks off tonight in Hermosa Beach [in] California. We are so thrilled." The band also commented: "Thank you Dogstar fans!"

Dogstar are now scheduled to tour until December. They are next due to perform in Las Vegas on Saturday, before heading to other locations in the US including Salt Lake City. The band will head to Japan for three concerts next month.

Upon their return to the US, the trio are set to continue touring with performances in various cities. This includes scheduled gigs at venues in San Francisco, Chicago, Brooklyn and Atlanta. The tour is due to conclude in Nashville.

The opening night of the tour was followed by the release of the band's latest single Breach on Friday. Promoting the new song, it was teased that Keanu has a "nasty bass solo" on the track, which is expected to appear on their new album.

Dogstar's upcoming album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees is set to be released on October 6. It's the band's third album, following the release of Our Little Visionary and Happy Ending in 1996 and 2000 respectively.
