Shirley Ballas has addressed the rumours that she has split from her toyboy fiancé Danny Taylor.

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge has denied claims that the pair have called time on their relationship despite previously saying they have barely seen each other.

The 62-year-old previously called them "good friends" which prompted split rumours. However, she has confirmed that their romance is still going strong and they haven't fallen victim to the Strictly curse.

Shirley said: "Danny, we're still together after four and a half years. That's miraculous. He has a very busy schedule and I have a very busy schedule.

"He's in the North and I'm in the south, but somehow we do try to make it work, so that's good. What I like most about Danny is he has a heart of gold and he puts up with my lifestyle. I am like the Tazmanian devil and I'm all over the place."

Ahead of the return of the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing, Shirley has been raising money as part fo a charity skyathlon to raise awareness for the mental health charity CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, 20 years after her brother David took his own life.

She has completed a zipline and wing walk which will finish in her doing a skydive on Saturday. When asked about her upcoming feat, she told PA News: "This whole week has been quite terrifying for me, but I will do it because I have promised to do it for everybody and all of their loved ones, but the thought of jumping out of an aeroplane at 13,000ft, with a 2,000ft freefall... all I keep thinking about is will the parachute open?"

"So, I'm a bit nervous about that actually I'm very nervous!" Shirley is aiming to raise an impressive £30,000 for Calm.

Shirley is due to return as head judge on Strictly later this year following the latest series' line up being announced to include the liked of Zara McDermott, Ryan Thomas and Bobby Brazier.
