The Premier League season is finally here, though Manchester United still have to wait a couple of days to kick off their campaign.

Having brought in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, the Red Devils' incoming business appears to be done for the time being. Instead, attention is turning towards outgoings as Erik ten Hag works to trim his bloated squad.

There are several players who Ten Hag is ready to cut ties with as he continues his overhaul of what was a severly underperforming squad before his arrival. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours.

Moyes confirms Maguire deal

West Ham boss David Moyes has confirmed that his side have had a bid for Harry Maguire accepted by Manchester United. Maguire has plummeted down the pecking order at Old Trafford since Ten Hag took charge last summer.

The Dutchman even stripped him of the captaincy in July, handing it instead to Bruno Fernandes. On Tuesday, the Hammers submitted an improved bid for the England international, offering £30million for him.

And now Moyes has confirmed that that bid has been accepted, though the deal has not been completed. He said: “Won’t talk about players at other clubs but we’ve had a bid accepted by Man Utd. But until he’s our player not discussing him.”

Merson questions United decisions

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has questioned United's decision to not improve their midfield options this summer. And he is also doubtful that the move to shun Harry Kane in favour of Rasmus Hojland will work out.

"I am slightly worried about their defence. Lisandro Martinez is their rock, and they will have problems if picks up an injury. They might have problems with scoring goals, and they've paid a lot of money for Rasmus Hojlund," he told Sportskeeda.

"He'll have to settle in quickly because the Premier League is very different from the Serie A. If Hojlund is as good as his price tag suggests, Man United will have a great season. If I was a Manchester United fan, however, I'd be much happier if they'd brought in Harry Kane. Why they haven't gone the full distance to sign Harry Kane is beyond me."

Henderson's exit stalls

Dean Henderson's departure from Manchester United has stalled amid an injury to Tom Heaton. Following the arrival of Onana, Henderson has little hope of claiming the number one shirt at the Red Devils in the near-future.

As a result, he has been pushing for a departure from Old Trafford, with Nottingham Forest leading the way. But the Englishman's hopes of moving to the City Ground have hit a stumbling block with fellow back-up Heaton sidelined, meaning Ten Hag will likely opt to keep him at United for the time being.

A club statement read: "Tom Heaton is out of Manchester United’s Premier League season opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The experienced goalkeeper sustained an injury in training that is still being assessed but he is expected to be unavailable for the first few weeks of the season.”
