Jeff Bezos splashes $68m on new mansion in Florida's 'Billionaire Bunker'

Jeff Bezos has purchased a new home in Florida's "Billionaire Bunker" and has reportedly spent around $68million (£53.6million) on bagging the property. It comes just months after the Amazon boss, 59, got down on one knee to present a colossal diamond worth a reported $2.5million (£2million) to his Emmy Award-winning journalist girlfriend, 53, on board his $500million (£394million) superyacht.

Lauren has been seen flashing a giant diamond ring on her wedding finger after canoodling on board the Koru yacht, with the newly-engaged couple sailing off the coast of Cannes. Since then, Jeff has scooped up his $68million crib, which would have been a drop in the ocean compared to his $163billion net worth, landing him as the world's third richest man, according to Bloomberg.

The home boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms and is based on Indian Creek Island - a fortress that lies on the outskirts of Biscayne Bay, and boasts its own municipality, mayor and police force. The couple's new neighbours include Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Carl Icahn and Spanish singer Julio Iglesias.

The property previous owner was Tulia Soucy de Gonzalez Gorrondona, a former hotelier and manager at MTM Star International Corp., a company with ties to Panama, Bloomberg reported. Public records show that the home was last bought, presumably by Tulia for $1.4million (£1.1million) in 1982.

Outside of their property gains, Lauren paid tribute to her partner in a post to mark his birthday earlier this year, with her writing about him on Instagram to celebrate the occasion back in January. Alongside photos of the couple together, she described him in the accompanying caption as "the man of [her] dreams, who lights up [her] world with his laughter and kind heart".

Lauren continued: "You have shown me that no great love is not bravely fought for. Thank you for always being by my side and for being the most loving and supportive partner. I am so grateful for the memories we have made and the adventures yet to come. Here's to many more birthdays filled with love and laughter."

Lauren concluded the caption with a message to her partner in Spanish, with her having written: "Te amo con todo mi corazon", which translates to: "I love you with all of my heart".
