Jake Paul accused of 'regressing' in skills after Nate Diaz win

Jake Paul got back to winning ways by beating Nate Diaz but his YouTube rival KSI was far from impressed.

Paul dropped Diaz on the way to winning a unanimous decision when the pair met over 10-rounds in Dallas, Texas last weekend. It was Paul's first win since being beaten by Tommy Fury in February, with the Love Island star serving as KSI's next opponent. The Brit has some choice words to say about Paul's win against Diaz as he thinks his rival is getting worse.

"I think he regressed. I just felt like the shot selection was poor," KSI said of Paul on The MMA Hour. "I felt like he did well to punch a punching bag, I guess. All Nate was trying to do was the old classic tactic of double guarding, trying to tire his opponent out, taking all the damage, trying to parry stuff, just literally walking down.

"I don’t feel like Nate posed a threat. He doesn’t have any power to be able to do anything with that and Jake didn’t capitalise. He has pillow hands, especially in the boxing ring. There were hardly any left foot turns, Jake didn’t do enough to the body, he was holding a lot. I just thought it was quite poor, personally.”

“When it comes to MMA, he might be able to knock down someone because of how small the gloves are, but in boxing he doesn’t throw anything from the hip. It’s like he’s slapping and the amount of shots Jake took was tremendous but it hardly did anything, so that’s why I felt Jake was able to weather the storm and won unanimously, but obviously Nate didn’t jab.”

Paul wants to rematch Diaz in MMA as he put a $10million offer on the table for the UFC legend. 'The Problem Child' is also open to fighting Fury again, insisting his end goal in the sport is to become a world champion and fight Canelo Alvarez. KSI feels more confident than ever in a potential match-up against Paul as he continued to criticise his rival.

“After that loss against Tommy, he lost himself,” KSI added. “That’s why he fired a lot of his team, got a new coach and just wanted to figure himself out. That’s why in the fight against Nate, I felt like he did worse than he did against Tommy. At least with Tommy he still looked like he was doing well for certain parts of the rounds, he was able to push back Tommy."
