Jeff Brazier says son Bobby's 'beautiful nature' will bowl Strictly fans over even if he admits he's not actually seen him do much dancing.

The proud dad has explained the reasons behind the 20-year-old's flying start to life on EastEnders after instantly earning praise for his portrayal of troubled Freddie Slater on the BBC soap. He'll be swapping Albert Square for sequins next month and TV presenter Jeff says his burgeoning career is purely down to his attitude.

Jeff says the actor's late mother Jade would be proud beyond belief of her son over the past few years and knows why he is getting better and better on the show with every week. The Big Brother star died in 2009 after battling cervical cancer when Bobby was five and his brother Freddie, 18, was just four.

After making it his life's work to help parents learn how to cope with grieving children, Jeff says there's not a day that goes by that he's not amazed by his boys. He knows Bobby will give Strictly everything he's got, because that's what he's always done in life.

In an exclusive interview, Jeff told the Mirror: "I'm really proud of Bobby and the attitude he has had since he's been on EastEnders. He's wanted to absorb as much from all the incredibly experienced actors around him. He's made a really good start to his career, and I can see he's proud of himself, too.

"I can see every time I switch it on that he's got better. Every time I watch it I can see he's better in the terms of the layers. I'm no acting expert, I can't say how good he is, but i'm really proud of my son. He's had an opportunity and he's taken it.

"I remember being told you live vicariously through your kids, I guess most parents do. When they start to achieve from a career point of view, it's special. He's made a mark and now he gets to have another very different experience."

Jeff added, discussing Bobby's Strictly Come Dancing signing: "He's going to get to learn a lot about himself. It's going to be really difficult, he's going to have to really dig in. There's a lot to learn, then you forget it all and there's another routine!

"I have no doubt he'll impress people with his politeness and his manners. He has a really beautiful nature, he makes you feel good - that's his gift. I can't wait to see him share it with everybody else."

Jeff may want to take some tips from one of the football managers he interviews as part of the TNT Sports team. Aldershot Town boss Tommy Widdrington is the dad of pro dancer Kai and he's knows he may have to take him aside when he covers the Shots later this month. He went on: "Tommy knows all about it of course, so I'm going to need to lean on him! It's going to be a great experience, it's a brilliant show.

"I don't know if he can dance! To an extent, we can all two-step, can't we? But I've never seen him try anything more elaborate than that but he'll have a go and he'll work hard. You're not meant to be good at the start, but he has a good capacity for learning."

As he was announced as part of this year's star-studded Strictly line-up, Bobby said: "I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly line up, I can’t wait to start training like a professional dancer and adding a few moves to my locker. I'm looking forward to performing in front of everyone, it's going to be so much fun!"
