Rebel Wilson shares horror at being hit with a gun on set before hospital dash

Rebel Wilson has thanked her fans for their well-wishes after being rushed to hospital with injuries she sustained while filming a stunt for the new film Bride Hard.

In the project directed by Simon West, the Aussie actress was left needing stitches to her nose during a stunt sequence that went wrong as she filmed her last scene in the role of a secret agent who struggles to fulfil her duties as the maid of honour at her childhood best friend's wedding.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, the 43 year old actress' nose injuries were seen to be clearing up nicely with just a tiny red gash on the side compared to the extensive bruised and battered images she had shared the week before.

"I just want to say thank you for your well wishes," she began in the clip. "I've actually been healing quite amazing. The stitches have dissolved out from my on-set accident last week.

"We're shooting an independent movie in Savannah, Georgia and in the middle of a night shoot, my last scene of the movie... so I had done all these kick-a*** fight sequences and then just in the last one got hit in the face with a butt of a gun."

Noting that it was a "complete accident" and "such a shock" to her, Rebel went on to express her gratitude for her healing journey.

She re-iterated: "So I wanted to say thank you for everybody's well-wishes, I hopefully will be totally fine. And it was, like, really fun to do an action movie, but it can be a bit dangerous at times, but I'm all good, so thanks, everybody."

Days earlier, Rebeil unveiled the extent of her injuries while explaining that it left her needing stitches.

"NOT the way I wanted to end this movie!" she wrote in an Instagram Stories post, alongside a selfie. "Three stitches and in hospital last night after a stunt accident at 4am."

It is a rarity for a Hollywood movie to be filming at the moment due to the ongoing strike that has rocked the industry. However, Rebel's film was granted a pass thanks to its status as an independent production.

Meanwhile, while Rebel is recovering, she has also been busy "comprising" on her wedding plans because her fiancée Ramona Agruma, 39, has a different opinion about the scale of it.

The actor - who's known for films like Pitch Perfect (2012) - explained to PEOPLE magazine that she envisioned an "elaborate celebration" while her fiancée wants "the opposite."

The couple announced their engagement in February.

They're understood to have got engaged at Disneyland in California, with Rebel said to have proposed during a visit to the theme park in Anaheim on Valentine's Day.
