BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay left blushing as co-star urges him to 'strip off'

BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay was left red-faced when his co-star Rachel Burden teased him on air to strip off.

The cheeky conversation happened as they spoke with reporter Emma Vardy to discuss the topic of fast fashion when the chat switched to the multiple outfits Emma wore in the segment. Jon labelled Emma a "Eurovision host" as she switched between colourful outfits including a bold pink blazer.

Emma quipped back: "Trust me, I am making the absolute most of it... I'm off to choose my next outfit!" In response, Jon added: "There's plenty to choose from" whilst co-host Rachel said: "I want them all".

Later in the show Jon and Rachel discussed the news that Coronation Street star Ellie Leach was the latest celebrity to join this year's Strictly Come Dancing cast. Rachel commented: "I'd love it if you stood up and just ripped off your clothes and there was a sequin outfit underneath."

However, a caught-out Jon was left stumbling for words before turning to the camera and joking: "I can't tell you anything." The programme was also hit with an awkward technical glitch whilst interviewing EastEnders star Bobby Brazier. The blip came just seconds after explaining he was scared to be on live TV.

The segment highlighted the young actor as one of the celebrities taking part in the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing. His reveal was announced on BBC Breakfast, where the star appear via a live video link from the set of EastEnders which plays Freddie Slater.

Bobby has been playing the soap character Freddie on EastEnders since 2022 and will soon be swapping Albert Square for the polished floors of the Strictly ballroom. And while Bobby is excited to be joining the cast of the long-running BBC dance competition, he admitted he is worried about appearing on live TV.

Appearing on screen, Bobby announced: "I’ve never done live (TV) before. I’m a little bit nervous. But, I’m happy." Seconds later, however, there appeared to be sound issues as Bobby was left unable to hear the line of questioning coming from the BBC Breakfast studios. Asked how he was feeling about making the transition from soap acting to starring on Strictly, the young actor failed to hear the question.

He was left having to ask: "Sorry, say that again?", with BBC host Rachel repeating: "So how do you feel moving from the relative comfort of your home there at EastEnders to the Strictly studios."

Bobby is just one of the celebrities that have been confirmed by BBC bosses to star in the upcoming 21st season of Strictly. He joins fellow soap stars Adam Thomas and Ellie Leach, as well as West End star Layton Williams and actress Amanda Abbington. News readers Angela Rippon and Krishnan Guru-Murthy are also taking part - as are radio hosts Nikita Kanda and Eddie Kadi. TV presenter Angela Scanlon, Paralympic athlete Jody Cundy and reality star Zara McDermott complete the announced line-up so far.
