If done correctly, then wearing white can give you a very clean, striking look, and can be very flattering indeed. However, white garments can and do attract disaster if you're not super cautious. From dodging spills and stains to having to be extra careful about where you sit, wearing white certainly isn't for the faint-hearted.

Luckily, one stylish woman has come forward with her go-to solution for an issue so many have before stepping out in white - the colour of underwear to choose. As many fashionistas will no doubt have learned the hard way, picking the wrong shade of undies could well lead to them being much more visible than you would have liked. Now content creator Liz Zemlyanoy has surprised her followers by revealing that she goes for red knickers whenever she's wearing white trousers, leaving people wowed.

In a video shared via TikTok, Liz, who goes by the username @liz.zemm, revealed: "I was today years old when I found out you can wear red undies under white pants." The footage shows Liz slipping on a pair of chic white pants over a pair of dark red boxers, before demonstrating her astonishment when the red didn't show through the material at all.

According to lingerie company Bradoria, scientific research supports anecdotal evidence that certain shades of red can work just as well as neutral colours when it comes to picking bras and knickers to wear beneath white clothing, although fuchsia or hot pink tones should be avoided at all costs.

The brand explained: "Whether your skin is fair or dark, our skin has red tones that can easily blend with a white colour shirt. In order to make the red bra trick work, you have to look for the right shade of red that will compliment your skin tone. If you have a fair skin tone, it is highly recommended that you choose true red colour bras. "For our dark-skinned beauties, deeper red colours like burgundy and scarlet are for you. Let's not forget our olive skin tones, cranberry hues will work best for your skin tone."

Just last year, influencer Lydia Rose, who goes by the Instagram username @fashioninflux, left her followers amazed after slipping on a white top over a red bra, with some hailing the tip as a "game changer". One person gasped: "What kind of magic is this?" Another wrote: "In fact the red matches your skin tone. I think that's why it looks better than wearing white bra under white tee."
