The actress had shared her love for her pup Barney back in 2015 when she shared a sweet selfie with him. Alongside the snap she wrote: "Happy national dog day!!! My boy Barney. Love him so much." Kym also welcomed a chihuahua to the family in 2018. Opening up on her dog, she told OK! magazine at the time: "This week we welcomed a new addition to the family – a long-haired, black, white and brown Chihuahua who we’ve called Rico.
Masked Singer's Fawn identity 'exposed' as soap star posts singing video"We already have a short-haired Chihuahua called Lola, so as in Barry Manilow’s song Copacabana we now have a Rico and Lola. He’s very cute. We also have a King Charles spaniel called Barney and he’s taking time to get used to Rico." However, just a year later Kym had to dash to the hospital after the dog accidentally clawed her.
She revealed in her OK! magazine column that playful Rico scratched her eye so badly that he needed emergency treatment. She wrote: “As many of you know I’ve got a little chihuahua puppy name Rico. He’s very playful and likes to stroke your face with his paws. But he accidentally pawed my eye. At first it didn’t really hurt but my eye was stinging and when I looked in the mirror the left side was bright red.
“I went to the opticians and they told me there was a small lump on the eye. They put me on antibiotic drops but over the next few days, things weren’t improving.” Doctors told her she had been left with a cyst that may never go away.
