Baldur's Gate 3: Finish the Masterwork weapon questline explained

Baldur's Gate 3 is filled to the brim with lengthy questlines that can end up in you nabbing some high-quality loot, thankfully there's one that isn't too lengthy.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a seemingly endless amount of content available alongside its PC launch, which means there's a bunch of mysteries to solve in-game – such as the Scuffed Rock. One other such mystery is the Masterwork weapon quest, which promises players a top-tier weapon, provided they can find the blueprints and the materials.

A blacksmith named Highcliffe has left behind his journal which speaks of three special weapons using the Underdark's Sussur Bark. Luckily for you, the quest to retrieve these blueprints – and by extension craft a fancy weapon – isn't a long one in the slightest.

Where to find Finish the Masterwork weapon quest

The Finish the Masterwork weapon quest can be found in the Blighted Village. You'll need to head to the Blacksmith's House, in which you should be able to see a fireplace. There's a small gap on the left side of the fireplace, head over and investigate it and you'll find Highcliff's Journal.

Highcliff's Journal will reveal that a blueprint exists that can create a Masterwork weapon. Luckily you won't need to search far for this blueprint.

Head to the other room in the blacksmith's house, and you'll see a spiderweb covering a hole in the floor, burn it away and head down into the hole. After that, head northeast and you'll find a locked wooden chest, go ahead and lockpick it (you'll need to find a DC 10 Sleight of Hand check), and within, the blueprint is held.

How to craft the Masterwork weapon

To craft one of these Masterwork weapons you'll need to be in possession of some Sussur Tree Bark. You can find this item in the Underdark, which is an area found below the Blighted Village. If you're having trouble spotting some try holding down ALT to highlight the item.

Once you've picked that up, head back to a furnace and turn it on by clicking on the furnace itself and then fan the flame by clicking on the bellows.

You can craft either the Sussur Dagger, Sussur Greatsword or Sussur Sickle, you'll need a common weapon in the designated category to craft it. Combine the Sussur Bark with the furnace, then combine the furnace with your chosen weapon and your quest is complete.
