He has knocked seven bells out of the biggest, hardest men in boxing and he’s still at it, preparing to fight former UFC champ Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on October 28.

But 34-year-old Tyson Fury - aka The Gypsy King - just doesn’t scare… Unless he’s faced with the big drink.

As 33-year-old wife Paris, who has been married to him since 2008, tries to lure him on to a jet ski in Cannes, Tyson refuses point blank. He doesn’t like to admit when he’s scared, she says, but “he’s not a great fan of deep water.” The reason? That runs just as deep.

“Years and years ago when we was all little kids, me mother went to see a fortune teller,” Tyson says.

“This fortune teller told me mother a lot of things. So the only thing that didn’t come true in the family was she said ‘one of your offspring’s going to die in water’.” It caused a superstitious dread.

“Even till today, every holiday that I go on, me dad or me mother or someone will phone me and say “watch them children, watch the water, remember what the fortune teller said’.”

He stares hard into the camera. “Everything else came true,” he repeats.

The unbeaten heavyweight champ of the world won’t be going any rounds with the sea any time soon.
