Lizzo supported publicly by very unlikely ally amid sexual harassment lawsuit
Lizzo has been supported publicly by unlikely ally Grimes after being hit by a sexual harassment lawsuit last week.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, is a 35-year-old musician from Canada. She is well known for her relationship with billionaire Elon Musk and they share two children.. And now she has shown support for singer Lizzo in the wake of "sexual harassment" and "weight-shaming" claims.
The 35-year-old singing sensation, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, often takes to the stage with impressive dance troop behind her. But last week a group of three of the singer's dancers accused her of alleged "sexual harassment" and "creating a hostile work environment" in a new lawsuit. They also claimed they feared losing their jobs if they didn't adhere to Lizzo's demands.
Lizzo has since spoken out, with her urging that she is "not the villain", with Grimes now weighing in with her opinion on the situation. Taking to Twitter, Grimes penned: "I love Lizzo. Not saying I don't believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch in ways I didn't find out about until way later. Mebe sh*t is bad. But loyalty matters to me."
She added: "Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was 'cool', and she checked in on me when no one cared. I've only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world.
Lizzo and her new boyfriend go official with 'hard launch' at pre-Grammys bash"There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person. Just my two cents. I recall when she first blew up being so happy because I'd never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry."
Grimes then concluded her post with: "I struggle to believe she would have so radically changed. tired of a culture that seeks to destroy its greatest virtues. Lizzo is amazing."
Somebody then tried to tell the Canadian musician that Lizzo is a good person to her because she's "rich and wealthy and has influence", to which she replied: "Lizzo was nice to me before Elon when she blew up and I was still indie as f*ck. She was nice to me in like 2012 before anyone cared abt either of us.
"She checked in while I was cancelled a f while I was pregnant when most people abandoned me because they didn't want the association, she was kind when was only a liability to her. I respect that hardcore. That's a good person."
This comes as the three dancers who filed the suit also alleged that Lizzo pressured one of them to "touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club", among other allegations. NBC broke the news last week and reported that the singer allegedly "began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas".
The Mirror US previously reached out to Lizzo's publicist for comment with no response currently.
