Holly Willoughby looked like she'd put the recent drama surrounding This Morning behind her as she enjoyed a dip in the sea on holiday.

The mum-of-three, 42, looked sensational as she larked around on the beach of the Algarve in Portugal, sporting a chic high-cut black swimsuit. Adding a pair of designer sunglasses, the presenter winced as she braved the cool temperatures of the Atlantic, before breaking into a grin. After taking her swim, Holly tied a sarong around her as she made her way back to the golden sands of the unspoilt Mediterranean beach.

The Wylde Moon guru, who is reportedly signing a new contract with This Morning - increasing her £700k salary - has not spoken publicly about taking leave from the show after a rather unceremonious final programme last month.

Holly usually takes a break from her presenting gig during the school holidays, with a source tellingThe Sun she will be taking two months off as part of her "usual and planned break over the summer". However, when former host Phillip Schofield was still on the show, he and Holly would usually sign off with a little goodbye message. But this summer, the wellness advocate appears to have taken her leave without any fanfare, perhaps not surprising after all the drama surrounding the show.

Addressing fans with that now infamous "Are you ok?" speech, Holly said she'd been hurt by the news her former friend and Broom Cupboard star Phil had been having an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a young runner. As she returned to the show on June 5 following Phil's shock resignation from the programme he 'loved', Holly said she felt “shaken, troubled, let down, and worried. “You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth,” she said. “Who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process."

While Holly likes to keep her private life out of the spotlight, she usually takes her annual summer break with her husband Dan Baldwin and their three children.

She also previously met up with Phillip and his own family on holiday. Last year, the pair took to Instagram to share a photo of themselves laughing in the sea, with the hashtag #willofield. They also posted photos parodying the loved-up snaps of Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift splashing around on their Rhode Island holiday, sporting matching “I [heart] H.W” and “I [heart] P.S” t-shirts.

PR expert Mark Borkowski claims that Holly's bumper pay cheque could infuriate Brits as the country is gripped in a cost of living crisis as they're forced to "heat cans of beans with candles" due to the rising levels of inflation. Speaking to OK! Magazine, he said: "What's Holly expected to do? Like footballers, TV personalities often have a very, very short shelf life," he told the outlet. Mark went on to explain that Holly's current salary pays a huge team who work behind the scenes. He added: "To make this work, she's got to deliver on screen and be very careful in terms of what she does publicly, what interviews she does and what she delivers on her own personal social media. It's about the long-term strategy now."
