WWE star Shayna Baszler wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow wrestlers like John Cena and Mercedes Varnado who have moved into acting - and her ring gear has given major hints to the role top of her wish list.

Baszler is set for a brutal match against her former tag partner Ronda Rousey at Summerslam this weekend, with British fans able to watch live on and the .

The fight came about after Baszler double-crossed Rousey in what, to many, was a shock move. But fans of Warhammer 40K were given a hint of an incoming betrayal as Baszler’s wrestling gear was inspired by Horus, the head of a traitorous faction of Space Marines who led an uprising against their Emperor in a huge civil war as part of the lore of the long-running game.

Made by Nottingham firm Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000 is the most popular war game in the world, with millions of people playing it since its launch in 1987.

Baszler is well-known to be a long-time fan of the iconic British gaming institution, alongside stars like Ed Sheeran and Henry Cavill, who famously chose to leave The Witcher franchise so he could star in and executive produce a Netflix series based on the 40K universe.

In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, Baszler said she would be happy to take a break from the squared circle to get involved, adding: "I'm a huge nerd for Warhammer 40K and if Henry Cavill sees this I'd be more than happy for him to recruit me for his project. I think I'd be a great Lotara Sarrin."

Sarrin is a bloodthirsty warrior who commands some of the most fearsome fighters of the universe and is known for her cunning, which certainly seems like an apt role for the former UFC star turned WWE wrestler, who will be fighting her former mentor in Detroit as part of Summerslam this weekend.

Their match will be under mixed martial arts rules and, with Baszler a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and kickboxer and Rousey an Olympic judo medallist and UFC powerhouse, fans can expect to see something very different - and more brutal - than more traditional wrestling matches on the card.

Bazler told us: "I'm excited. If there's one thing that the UFC has done for martial arts it's showing that pretty movie fight scenes are not what a fight looks like. A fight is ugly. And there can be beautiful moments, there can be really technical things achieved, but in in general, fights are ugly, and this is going to be ugly, and it's going to be down and dirty.

"People are going to look at this and they're going to see something totally different. No one else is going to do what we're going to do in there because no one else is capable of doing it. So this is a very unique opportunity for us to show something a little different to the WWE Universe".

The Baszler vs Rousey match is one of a packed card, which also sees Universal Champion Roman Reigns take on Jey Uso and social media star Logan Paul take on Ricochet, ironically at pretty much the same time his brother Jake Paul will be fighting Nate Diaz in his latest pro-boxing fight.

As for any hints for Warhammer fans on what's next for Baszler in terms of her ring gear or her story? Baszler grins: "Well I think if we're following the lore of Warhammer people can guess maybe what comes next - it just makes sense, right?"
